The Viral Wedding Dance That Broke the Internet : 80M+ Views & the Unforgettable Wedding Photos Before and After | Idaho Wedding Photographer
Some wedding moments are carefully planned and others? Simply pure magic.
When Stacey and Mike tied the knot at The Retreat in Sarasota, FL, they had no idea their weedding's spontaneous dance floor moment would explode on social media, racking up over 80 million views and counting!
I had the pleasure of documenting it from a still portrait perspective as their wedding photographer. And yes, I'm based in Sandpoint, Idaho but I am happy to provide wedding photography worldwide, especially in Florida!

A Wedding Dance That Took the Internet by Storm
The now-viral video wasn’t a rehearsed show or even intended to be filmed. A friend casually hit record on her phone as guests, many of whom are members of bride Stacey’s dance fitness studio Fly Dance Fitness, broke into a Lil Jon Throw Down routine to 'Snap Yo Fingers' right on the dance floor. The energy was contagious, the moves were flawless, and in just a minute, an epic wedding moment was captured forever.
Stacey in her full wedding dress (and now iconic white heart sunglasses) was joined by “black dress” & “guy in the gray hat” (Ashley and Tony, both instructors at the Sarasota's Fly Dance Fitness). A variety of other wedding guests, even me the photographer for a few 8 counts before snapping a few more photos as they snapped their fingers, joined the fun. And just like that, a once-in-a-lifetime wedding moment turned into an internet sensation.

Beyond the Viral Moment: The Wedding Story in Photos
But the magic of this wedding wasn’t just in the viral video clip, it was in every emotional, romantic, and joyful moment leading up to it and after it. The quiet afternoon getting-ready with her bridesmaids and family, the teary-eyed first look with her father, the most heart-felt vows under the giant oak trees that put the entire crowd into tears, these moments all led up to that non-stop dance floor reception party energy. As a story-telling wedding photographer, I love to capture it all with a photojournalism sensibility, from the details to the emotions.

Fly Fam For Life
As a long time client and fan of the dance studio, I've had the privilege of photographing Fly Dance Fitness long before wedding vows for their website and marketing materials (I even painted the mural on the back of the studio wall, Little Room to Bloom for my custom mural work and kids room designs), and those connections and friendships made this wedding truly extra special to document.
My documentary-style collection of wedding photography for the day isn't just centered around the dance, I my couples to feel back to the love, connection, and pure joy that radiated throughout the entire day when they see their wedding photos.
